Intractable Pain is a severe subset of chronic pain of malignant or non-malignant origin that causes measurable changes to endocrine and/or cardiac function (elevated BP/pulse, cardiac damage, altered cortisol or other hormones, etcetera) without adequate control.Many people who define themselves as CP (Chronic Pain) patients are actually IP (Intractable Pain) patients. If you require opioids on a constant basis, you likely have IP, but the changes to your BP & pulse are already being managed.
Intractable pain (IP) kills, even if it doesn't literally kill you, it steals your life. I've devoted this blog to everything and anything to do with living with IP.
